In this blog entry, we’re focusing on two great products designed to benefit cancer patients and others who may be experiencing some of the same health issues for different reasons. Let’s start by answering a question…
In this case, the Peter Mac branding refers to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, a highly respected centre for cancer research, treatment and also cancer-related medical training. When you see the Peter Mac name on Mucosoothe Oral Gel and Mouthwash Powder, you know they are products that you can trust.
Mucosoothe Oral Gel has been specially formulated to provide relief of pain and discomfort of the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat and upper gastrointestinal tract. It does this by producing what is known as “topical anaesthesia”, meaning a temporary loss of sensation – which obviously includes all unpleasant sensations.
The active ingredient of Mucosoothe Oral Gel is Lignocaine (2%). It comes in a 200ml bottle and has a blackcurrant flavour.
Peter Mac Mouthwash Powder isn’t just for oral hygiene, it is also used to treat the inflammation of the lining of the mouth that can happen as a side effect of cancer treatments such as radiation.
This mouthwash powder comes in 40 x 2.5g sachets. The ingredients are sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, methyl salicylate, peppermint oil and carnosine. Being in sachet form means it’s easy to carry some with you, e.g. in a purse or wallet, and to make up a single dose in the correct amount as required.
Gargle with Peter Mac Mouthwash Powder four times per day – after each meal and again before bed.
As a side effect of cancer treatments like chemotherapy, patients can experience bleeding and even sores in their mouth and throat. This combined with the fact their immune system has been weakened unfortunately increases the risk of infection. Thus, oral care becomes even more important for cancer patients. An ongoing effort should be made to soothe the mouth and throat and to keep them hygienically clean. (Note that this recommendation continues to apply after their actual treatment has finished and the patient is into the recovery period.)
Peter Mac Mucosoothe Oral Gel and Mouthwash Powder are two products that can definitely help in this area. They are reasonably priced and come with the endorsement of the highly respected Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
